Members helping Members

If you know of any job openings or are in need of a position please call the Rabbi's office. We will try to start a job bank as part of the Miriam's children project.

Also if you know anyone who may have contacts with a family who will be having a child to be put up for adoption let us know that as well.

Bereavement Support Group

Co-sponsored by Hospice Care of S.E. Florida and Temple Beth Emet. Facilitated by Paul Cohen, Ph.D., L.M.H.C., this group meets Saturdays at 11:00 am. at Temple Beth Emet. Please call 954-560-6195 or 954-467-7423 for more information or to sign up.

The Charitible Dimension

The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 contains good news for those who enjoy making gifts, either to Temple Beth Emet's Capital campaign, "Building for the 21st Century," or to other worthwhile causes.

Congress has continued the long-standing incentives to make gifts in the form of properties other than cash that have increased in value since you purchased them. Such gifts are generally deductible at full market value, regardless of your cost basis, provided they are held for a certain period prior to donation. Gifts of appreciated assets therefore continue to yield dual tax benefits. You are not only entitled to a deduction for the full fair market value of the property, you also avoid capital gains tax on the "paper profits" on the property.

Contact the Rabbi's office at 680-1882 for full details.
