/// Mitzvah Day - March 14th, 2010

Our 10th Annual Family Mitzvah Day is just around the corner. Mitzvah Day at Temple Beth Emet is a day to share, encourage a sense of community and provide goods and services to families and organizations in need. You can donate anything that you would like !!! In an effort to go green, whenever possible, we will not be mass mailing the Mitzvah Day forms this year. This effort will certainly save a few trees and several hundred dollars in postage. All the forms you need can be found by clicking here .

If you would like a hard copy, we can mail the forms to you, look for the forms in the February 2010 issue of the bulletin, or you can pick them up at the Temple office. The completed forms can be faxed, dropped off at school office or emailed back to us at mitzvahday@templebethemet.org. The forms must include the names of all family members, phone number, and the organization you want to attend. If you want to purchase a shirt please let us know the size (adult or child). A check must be mailed or dropped off at the Temple to purchase a shirt.

Temple Beth Emet’s Mitzvah Day benefits more than 40 local and international organizations. It is the largest effort of its kind in South Florida, drawing more than 1,300 volunteers every year. It requires more than 50 volunteers working for more than a year to coordinate, and continues to expand each year.

Volunteers come from the Temple’s membership rolls, and members of the community at large are invited to participate. Among the agencies that benefit from Temple Beth Emet’s Mitzvah Day :Broward Pace Center for Girls, Island Dolphin Care Center, American Cancer Research Society, Women in Distress, Federation Gardens and Memorial Manor nursing homes, W.E.C.A.R.E emergency food pantry, Jackson Pediatric Center, and many more.Skip Straus, Temple Past President and long-time member: “Rabbi Greenspon has instilled a sense of Tikkun Olam ("Repairing the World") in each of us at Temple Beth Emet. Mitzvah Day is the most visible example of our commitment, but I am proud to say that our congregants are spreading their Mitzvot throughout the community 365 days a year.”
